An Interview with Linda Ketner
Most recently, Linda was the 2008 Democratic nominee for United States Congress, District 1, South Carolina. She took 48% of the vote, narrowly losing to a 4-term incumbent in a District which had been Republican for the past 28 years .
Linda is President of KSILeadership and Management Development. Prior to co-founding KSI, she was Director of Organization Development for Food Lion Stores and, Manager of Organization Development for Smith Kline Corporation. She has been adjunct professor at UNC-G and the College of Charleston, teaching Complex Organizations and Leadership.
Active in her community, Linda currently serves on the College of Charleston’s President’s Community Advisory Board and has served in the past as President of The Coastal Community Foundation, President of Charleston Crisis Ministry, Chair of the Mayor's Council On Homelessness and Affordable Housing, Chair of the S.C. Housing Trust Fund, Co-founder of South Carolina Citizens for Housing and served on the boards of the Hollings Cancer Center, Health Sciences Foundation, and the YWCA of the USA. She is co-founder and past President of Alliance for Full Acceptance and S.C. Equality Coalition and on the advisory boards of the Riley Center for Urban Affairs and Policy Studies, the College of Charleston Women & Gender Studies program, and a trustee of the Free Enterprise Foundation. Having established the Women’s Fund, Ketner Fund and Fund for Social Justice at the Coastal Community Foundation, she oversees grants to community organizations working for solutions to social problems.
She holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.A. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro; and completed work toward her unfinished Ph.D. at both Duke and Emory Universities.
