Information & Referral

The Center for Women provides a wide range of information and referrals over the phone, in person, and through this website. The CFW's Referral and Resource Directory contains an comprehensive database of community outreach organizations and agencies that offer support services for women and their families.

The CFW also utilizes the 2-1-1 Hotline Directory of Community Services in making referrals. Check our Resources | Links section of the website for links with a wide variety of organizations and resources that assist women. Know more>>

Counseling

Counseling is available to women who need assistance in problem solving strategies and identifying community resources that can address long-term needs. CFW Counselors meet with clients
by appointment only to develop individual problem solving strategies. Fees based on modest sliding scale. Contact us if you are interested in Counseling or to make an appointment.

Legal Clinics

Legal Clinics are conducted several times a year with attorneys from the SC Bar Pro Bono Program to discuss women's rights and options regarding the law on a wide variety of different topics. Learn more>>

Support Groups

Support Groups are formed on the basis of need. They provide opportunities to share and learn with like-minded women who have similar concerns and are facilitated with the help of trained professionals who donate their time. Registration is required and there is a modest fee for most groups. Donations are accepted and scholarships are available.

Volunteering

The CFW depends on volunteers to  organize projects and special events.  There are also a variety of support committees to serve on. If you are interested in volunteering, call us for an application or click here for an online form and go here for a printable form.

The Walker Phenomenal Spirit Award

Do you have a secret ambition to accomplish something outstanding…or a dream to realize? In 2007 the Center for Women will present the first Walker Phenomenal Spirit Award to a woman 35 or over who can live her dream with the help of a modest grant. Longtime Center for Women member Doretha Walker has made a generous donation to start the award fund. Contact us if you would like some more information or are interested in contributing to the Walker Fund.
